While in Chicago visiting dear dear Brenna and Whitney, I reclaimed a couple of treasured products that I'd been missing. Their repossession, plus a recent trip to Sephora and Walgreens, plus some excellent gifts from Natalie, have created a mixture of scents that are arealgrood. Fresh! Clean!
I plan to take a moment now to document this perfect hybrid so that I may forever consult this post and attempt to recreate my current state of nose bliss.
In college I once splurged on the new line of Oil of Olay Total Effects products. I had been at a party at a strangers house that was really really cute, and while snooping through her bathroom cabinets I noticed she had a plethora of Total Effects. So, naturally, I went and got some. I recently re-purchased a face wash and lotion, but good lord did I upgrade. Changing from the regular foaming cleanser and spf face lotion (heaven), I now have in my possession the Refreshing Citrus Scrub and the Moisturizer plus Cooling Hydration.
The citrus scrub smells like fresh cut oranges and both products leave this cooling chill on your face that wakes my face up and sincerely energizes. Obsession. I want to wash my face constantly.
Next up, the best smelling, best overall product in the world. Bert's Bees Garden Tomato Toner. Let me tell you about it... Tomato, cucumber and parsley extracts clean and tighten pores, leaving skin smoother and firmer. They're blended with sugar cane, sugar maple and bilberry extract to boost skin's elasticity and accelerate exfoliation.
Gorgeous bottle, gorgeous product. I'd been looking forward to my gifts from Natalie for weeks. She works at Maven in St. Louis - an adorable shop in Maplewood where they create handmade soaps, bath bombs, beauty products, you name it. One of the most amazing soaps they have is called My Boyfriend's T-Shirt. It literally has the perfect combination of musk and Gain detergent that smells up your whole bathroom and makes you feel like you just stepped out of a dryer. It's the best soap ever, and it will be a sad day when I soap the last sud.
I've always been a sucker for Aveda products and smells, and I'm totally digging this new thing they do where they smack on some lipgloss after you get your cut and style. Personally, I think it's an ingenious tactic - introduce people to a new beauty product while they're feeling really good about themselves (new hair!) and in the mood to spend money. Well, it worked on me, and I wound up purchasing the best fall lipgloss ever.
It's part of their nourish-mint rehydrating lip glaze line in Morning Rose. While increasing your lip moisture and naturally plumping lips 13%, it is infused with mint to give your breath a kick in the fresh.
Long story short...come smell me. Totally worth it.
